Eloping in Washington... it's as dreamy as you'd think

Why Washington is the Perfect Place to Elope

So, you’re thinking about ditching the big wedding and saying "screw it" to all the stress and costs. You’re not alone! Elopements are all the rage right now, and if you’re looking for a spot that combines jaw-dropping views with total laid-back vibes, Washington should be at the top of your list. Trust me, it's a hell of a place to tie the knot.

Here’s why eloping in Washington is the best damn decision you’ll ever make (besides saying “I do” to your boo).

1. The Scenery is Freaking Unbelievable

Let’s just start with the obvious: Washington is drop-dead gorgeous. You’ve got mountains, forests, beaches, and waterfalls—pretty much everything you could ever want for your elopement backdrop.

Mount Rainier: Want those dreamy snow-capped mountain shots? Boom. Mount Rainier has your back. Hike a little (or a lot), exchange vows, and have the sickest wedding photos to flex on Instagram.

Olympic National Park: From mossy rainforests to serene beaches, Olympic gives you everything in one park. Why settle for one view when you can have like, five?

Snoqualmie Falls: Looking for something iconic but not too hardcore? Snoqualmie Falls is chef’s kiss and super accessible.

North Cascades: Up for some serious adventure? The North Cascades are calling. Think dramatic peaks and fewer crowds—your own little slice of paradise.

And my personal favorite: The Cozy River Cabin in Packwood, just a short drive to Mt. Rainier but the privacy of your own beautiful cabin with the epic f-ing background of Washington.

2. No One’s Gonna Tell You What the F*ck to Do

Traditional weddings come with rules, right? Like seating charts, awkward small talk with your aunt, and making sure your second cousin’s plus-one gets gluten-free cake. Eloping, especially in Washington, means you can literally do whatever the hell you want. Want to hike in your wedding dress? Go for it. Want to say your vows barefoot on the beach? Hell yeah, you do.

The point is, you’re 👏🏻 the 👏🏻 boss👏🏻 and Washington's laid-back, outdoorsy culture is all about doing you.

3. It’s Perfect for Adventure Junkies

Let’s be real: if you're eloping in Washington, you probably aren't just here for the views. You’re here for the adventure. Whether you're down for a scenic drive or an adrenaline-pumping hike to a secluded spot, Washington delivers.

Imagine exchanging vows at the top of a mountain, taking a quick dip in a glacier-fed lake, taking a canoe on a stunning river, starting the morning coffee shop hopping in Seattle, or exploring a foggy coastline right after saying "I do." It’s not just a wedding day—it’s a damn experience.

Permit Info (Because Even Elopements Have Some Rules)

Yeah, you gotta make it official with some paperwork, but don't sweat it—I've got the deets for you.

National Park Elopement Permits

If you’re thinking of getting hitched in one of Washington’s epic national parks, you’re gonna need a permit. Here’s a quick breakdown:

Mount Rainier: A wedding permit is required for ceremonies within the park, and you can apply here. As of 2024, the fee is $175.

Olympic National Park: If you're exchanging vows among the moss and mountains, you’ll need to fill out a permit application, which you can get here. It’s about $50 for the permit.

North Cascades: Same deal—ceremonies in the park require a special use permit, which you can snag here.

And if you don’t want to deal with dang permits, the before mentioned private cabin option is fabulous!

Make sure to apply for these well in advance, as processing can take a few weeks.

4. Say Goodbye to Big Wedding Costs

Here’s the kicker: traditional weddings can be ridiculously expensive. Like, “why did we just drop $30k on one day?” kind of expensive. Eloping in Washington is way more budget-friendly. Flights? Affordable. National park fees? Minimal. A small, cozy Airbnb with a view? Hell yeah.

You can spend your cash on what actually matters—whether it’s an epic honeymoon or just having more tequila shots at the after-party.

Local Vendors Who’ll Hook You Up

Washington is packed with some seriously talented vendors who are perfect for your elopement. Whether you need a killer bouquet or a laid-back officiant, these pros have you covered:

5. You’ll Actually Remember the Day

Let’s be honest, big weddings can be a blur. Between the constant chatter, rushing through the ceremony, and trying to hit every photo op, it’s easy to forget the most important part: you’re getting married. Eloping strips all that away, so you can focus on what matters.

Picture this: just you, your partner, maybe a photographer, and nature being all beautiful and shit. You get to soak it all in without worrying about seating charts or speeches that go on too long.

Ready to F*ckin’ Elope? Here’s What to Do Next

So, you’re sold on eloping in Washington? Awesome! Here are a few quick tips to get started:

1. Pick a Date: Washington’s weather can be a bit unpredictable. Late spring through early fall is your safest bet for not getting rained on. But hey, if you don’t mind a little drizzle, go for it!

2. Hire a Photographer: You’re going to want killer photos of this day. Hint hint… I love Washington!

3. Plan Your Location: Whether it’s a national park, a hidden beach, or the side of a mountain, make sure you’re allowed to get married there. Some spots require permits, so we’ll do a little homework. I’ll help you research but you’ll have to book!

4. Just Go for It: The beauty of eloping is that you don’t need all the answers. Grab your partner, pack your hiking boots, and go make some badass memories.

Washington is more than just a backdrop for your big day. It’s a place that embraces your adventurous spirit, lets you be you, and gives you memories that are way better than any fancy ballroom reception. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s feckin do it!
